5 Ways to Spice Up Your Wardrobe for 'Frazzled Englishwoman' Fall

As a new season arrives, so has a whole new set of fashion trends. Among the most popular for this Fall, (and my personal favorite) is the ‘Frazzled Englishwoman’, centered on style icons like Bridget Jones and every character Kate Winslet has ever played.

In an era where people readily over-consume fast-fleeting fashion, the 'Frazzled Englishwoman' is the perfect trend for girls who want to buy investment items that will be stylish for years to come.

Here are my top 5 picks for items to buy that can spice up your fall wardrobe, without breaking the bank or wasting your money on something you’ll never wear again.

Train Conductor Hats Are So Back

One item I believe will never go out of style is the train conductor hat, so I’m happy to report people are loving them this fall. They’re perfect for that frazzled ‘'forgot to do my hair’ kind of day, while also adding an element where you look put together and mature. If you want to seem smart and a little edgy, this is the item for you.

Tights Tights Tights

If you don’t own a pair of tights, you simply need one. These are the easiest accessories to add to any outfit to make you look like you’ve thought about what you’re wearing a lot more than you probably have. Dark red and classic black are great places to start if you’re at a loss for colors, with lace being a great choice to add texture.

Thick. Chunky. Sweaters.

Do I even need to explain this one? The thick chunky sweater is a REQUIREMENT for the 'Frazzled Englishwoman'. Any color, funky pattern, or design you can think of works as long as it looks warm and cozy. I recommend looking for vintage ones, to find the best quality for the best price, with your local Goodwill or Depop being great shopping options.

Leather Everything

If there is one thing you take away from this article I hope it's this; leather is a necessity. Leather jackets, blazers, skirts, pants, boots, vests, purses, all of it. A great place to start is a black leather jacket and you can go from there. Leather looks sleek and expensive, and if you invest in real leather it’ll last you a lifetime.

Trench it Up!!

When I studied abroad in London, one of my favorite items I always saw stylish English women wear was a trench coat. It may be hard to pull this one off if you’re a college student like me and everyone dresses casually, but for a more dressy wardrobe, this is essential. They have the perfect level of warmth for cool autumn days, without freezing or overheating, in addition to matching with everything because they’re neutral. Ebay is a great place to search for trenches, but most popular American brands are currently carrying them.

I hope these suggestions make you feel prepared to take on fall fashion in a fun new way, allowing you to explore your style without giving into the abusive trend cycle. Happy shopping!
